Technical support division

Technical support division is a technical system of Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science (SYNL). With cutting edge facilities and instruments, the division aims to improve the characterization capabilities on the structure and properties of various materials. A first-class technical support plat with skilled servicing staff and effective operation management guarantee the experimental data acquirement with high quality and in good time. The division carries out testing and analyzing as well as student training, scientist guidance, facility maintenance and technique innovation. Not only fulfill the testing and analyzing requirement, but also provides latest tool for the materials science and engineering.

The facility for Microstructure characterization include transmission electron microscopes: Tecnai F30, Hitatch HF-2000, JEM-2010 (UHR), JEM-2010 (HR), JEM-2000EXII JEM-2000FXII; Scanning electron microscopes: LEO Supra-35, FEI quanta 600, FEI Nano-SEM 430; and X-ray diffractometer: Bruker D8 Discover, Rigaku D/max 2400.

Materials property characterization instrument include Netzsch 4, Perkin-Elmer 7 and Pyris-1 series differential scanning calorimeters, dynamic thermomechanical analyzer, thermal expansion instrument; MTS thermal-mechanical, Tytron micro-force, Schenck high frequency and USF-2000 supersonic fatigue test machines.

The division have also the instruments for crystal growth, chemical deposition, metallographic examination, heat treatment and specimen preparation; Nova 200 dual-beam focused ion beam system equipped with nano or micron sample processing, imaging, in situ analysis and micromanipulation measurement function.
