The research activities of Materials process modeling Division are focused on the research and development of modeling, design, and optimization for materials hot processing including casting, forging, welding and heat treatment to key components used in petrochemical equipment, metallurgy facilities, marine vessels and nuclear power station, such as large marine crankshaft, heavy cast steel back-up roll, three gorges 700MW water turbine runner. Meanwhile, they engage in the predication of microstructure and mechanical properties of hot strip and the mesoscale modeling and simulation of the phase transformation, recrystallization and grain growth in steels by the cellular automaton, Monte Carlo and phase field. Current emphases include the core casting technology development for large hollow ingots, forging process design and simulation for nuclear power vessel, segregation modeling and controlling for 600t huge ingots and welding process simulation and high efficient welding technology development. |
