In 1998, the Materials process modeling Group was founded in Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences.They have been committed to develop the technology of thermal processing of metal materials with the method which combined computer simulation with experimental study. With the continuous development of the group,
in 2008, they established Materials process modeling Division(MPMD), subject to Shenyang National Laboratory for Materials Science.

At present, the main research field
are
visualization technology of thermal processing, heavy casting and forging technology development, simulation and experimental research of Solid-state phase-change, materials research and simulation technology.
MPMD combine real-time X-ray observation to high-performance simulation, establish visual technology platform of a thermal processing, and promote it to enterprises.
And we also provide training.
We have a domestic first-class software and hardware working environment, and a lot of talent reserve, the existing masters and doctors 20.
At present, we have
formed a 1000 square meters platform for technology development in new technology building, on the first floor

400 square meters is office region and technology and software development, training platform. We have purchased 62 hardware and software
facilities, including X-ray real-time monitoring system for casting process, vacuum melting equipment,
