The group focuses on the scientific aspects of advanced DS and SX superalloys. Our current interests include the formation mechanism and control techniques of defects in DS and SX castings, the failure mechanisms of advanced DS and SX alloys in different orientations, or with various defects (recrystallization, low angle grain boundary), and the high gradient directional solidification technology assisted by liquid metal coolant.
