The International Centre for Materials Physics (ICMP), Chinese
Academy of Sciences, is an institution for scientific exchange
and research. The ICMP builds bridges between modern physics and
technical applications, theoretical physics and experimental materials
physics, and strengthens international cooperation between
China and foreign countries. The ICMP enhances their mutual connections
and reactions among them and provides a forum for scientific contacts
between physicists and materials scientists in China and other
countries.
The ICMP was established in 1987. Several research and exchange
activities on material physics have been held by the ICMP. There
is a large research scientists network on material physics, connecting
with 14 federated institutes and Universities and near hundreds
scientists in China as the members of the ICMP. More than 70 foreign
scientists attended workshops or symposiums organized by the ICMP.
The ICMP has been funded by Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS)
and National Ministry of Science and Technology. Most of international
scientific exchange activities on material physics in ICMP have
been supported also by the National Nature Science Foundation
of China (NSFC), the Abdula Salam International Centre for Theoretical
Physics (AS-ICTP) which is supported by UNESCO and IAEA, and the
Third World Academy of Sciences (TWAS).
