	Prof. D. Y. Geng, born in November 1947. After he graduated in the department of Metal Materials, Northeast University, in 1981, he became a researcher in an institute of Shenyang city. He entered the Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 1987. He was promoted to be an assistant Professor in IMR in 1988, a senior engineer in 1994, a full Professor in 1999. His main interests are application of magnetic materials, permanent magnets, transport properties of materials, etc. More than 70 papers have been published in international/domestic journals. He received several national and CAS awards for the advances in sciences and technology. He won more than 10 national patents. MAIN EDUCATION Dec. 1981　　 　 　 Graduated from Metal Material Department of Northeast University Apr. 1982 - Apr. 1985   a teacher in the Tieling Metallugic - technical School, Tieling, China Apr. 1985 - Nov. 1987   a header of a department in the Combustion Equipment Institute of Shenyang, Shenyang, China Nov. 1987-   a researcher in the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shenyang, China (promoted to be assistant Professor in 1988; associate Professor in 1993; Professor in 1999) June 2000- Aug. 2000   a visiting scholar in the Technical University of Vienna, Austria     RESEARCH FIELDS: 　 Before 1997, application of magnets in oilfields, water-boilers, etc. succeeded in 15 national patents. Awarded two national third-class prizes for advances in sciences and technologies of China. 　 　   After 1997, permanent magnetic materials, ferroelectric materials, magnetostrictive materials, GMR materials, nanoparticle/nanocapsules, etc. about 50 papers published in international journals.
